It was on Friday when Santhosh called me and made an enquiry whether I am free to attend an introduction lecture about Cisco self defending networks. I accepted the invitation immediately because
This would be my chance of visiting their green building and green datacenter.
This would be another chance to meet my friend Mr.Shabir over there.
Thankfully I was just 5 minutes late for the seminar. The birds-eye view of Cisco's self defending networks was very interesting and this was a signboard about the turn that computing and networking areas are taking. And then there was a presentation about the green initiations of Frontier.

After the lectures when we were going through the building and its "green" features, Shabir and Choudhary joined us. This was another story, a man from UPS service team, became the supervisor of green building construction and moved onto Storage solutions. The talks went on till 9 pm and Shabir dropped me till Trinity circle.
I thank Frontier again for providing me this wonderful opportunity.

1. Open Self:- Also called public area, this cell represents an ideal situation. Here the person knows about himself and others. There would be openness and compatibility and little reason to be defensive. Mutual understanding and friendship between people are the highest in this space. Naturally there is little scope or no scope for any conflict.
2. Hidden Self:- Also known as the private or secret area, this cell denotes that the person understands about himself but does not know about other person. The result being that the person remains hidden from others because of the fear of how others might react. The person may keep his/her true feelings, attitudes or secret and will not open up to others. There is potential interpersonal conflict in this quadrant.
3. Blind Self:- Alternatively known as blind area, this cell represents a situation where the person knows about others but does not know about himself/herself. As in the hidden self, there is potential for conflict in this cell too.
4. Undiscovered Self:- This is potentially the most explosive situation. The person does not either about himself or about others. There is a misunderstanding, which leads to interpersonal conflict. Alternatively this area is known as the dark area.
The best way to reduce the sizes of hidden self, blind self, and undiscovered self is to have better communication between the person and others.

When these areas are decreased, obviously it results in better communication skills and hence resolved conflicts, which are going to be constructive in nature.
I want to add a special line about undiscovered spot. This is the most important part which determines the actual character of the person. It is very much important for a person to explore this area also by giving thought about self over often as possible. A solitude of an hour in week should help.

A geek performance by Surendra
Installation of ADS-MS exchange and OCS.
It was on one hot summer afternoon we have got a dell server power edge 2900 with xeon 2.45 GHz quadcore CPU, 500 GB SAS hard disk and 8 Gigs of memory. The intended use was to install office communication server on it and test the application developed. And also enable hyper -V and have some guest OS in it with 64 bit architecture for testing.
All the things started with a dim mind as my concept of MS Hyper -V was similar to that of VMware ESX . But I did not find the client which can connect to the baremetal installation so that I can create the virtual Machines.
Later with the guidance I understood that It is actually a different way, you can install win 2008 RTM first and then add the role as hyper-V. With this knowledge I emulated/virtualized 4 guest OS both 64bit and 32 bit on it. ( why it is hyper- V and not Esxi...? the answer is simple I have been asked to do that way.. :P)
Well later Surendra and Nagesh started installing ADS, it was easy cake, configured some domains and policies, moved on to install exchange 2007. It did not starting Transport Agent. After some time we found out it is just because of IPV6 was disabled on the network. Once IPV6 is enabled exchange server installation was smooth.
But in this trial and error excercise we have already formatted and reloaded win2k8 and installed DC again :P. Interestings things are yet to follow.
Then we started installing OCS with loads and loads of dependencies and again it got struck at starting the services. Earlier we thought it is an issue with network/certificate or some stupid trivial thing we missed out... And finally figured that it was messge queing server. We added that feature and tried to start the services, It was not starting.... :P :P . this time it was the case that MSMQ has to be added even before promoting the machine to DC.
Again we formatted and reloaded win2008 / ADS /Exchange and now it started moving. This time it is already 5 hours since we started working from scratch and we are still waiting at a place where the certificate and auth as tls was giving error. Atlast once we made auth through tcp OCS communicator client was able to login to the server .

upgrading from sarge to lenny
One day I thought of taking a bold step and hence I started upgradin my desktop from debian sarge to debian lenny (For some it is the easiest thing to do.. but for some others it is certainly not.. I am in some others category)
in file etc/apt/source.list

deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main
apt-get upgrade gives error

Now I stopped and enquired with Omshivu what to do.. He said it could be ignored. Well ignorance is bliss sometimes. So I moved ahead..
Hm.. my /var directory is full and it says unable to write log .. :| let me clean it up and go for lunch
It is already 4.00 and it says still 3h5m left for downloading and my openoffice is just vanished.
apt-get install aptitude
Oh .. so many libraries installed just for aptitude ..? and several service restarts .. and now ..
apt-get dist-upgrade

1229 packages upgraded, 445 newly installed, 128 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 1785MB of archives. After unpacking 1374MB will be used.

Hum.. I could have uninstalled loads of applications. But did not do it. You should be punished for your sins.
It is still showing 3 hours left and now time for me to go home . :(
Next day morning :
I come and see my system is upgraded and ready. But what there is some message which says pidgin was not able to downloaded and written as their is not enough space on device.
I checked the space it looks ok. update-manager was showing 702 updates available. when I started it was hanging.. Hopeless situation.. I called up Shashi my linux guru. some hints by him.
I ran the apt-get dist-upgrade again ..
now it is
1273 upgraded, 493 newly installed, 27 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 142MB/1907MB of archives.
After this operation, 1758MB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? y
Now the actual replacement of packages started... One by one applications are getting better both features and feelings wise.
It asks lots of files and configurations to be kept back and or to install the maintainters versions. it left to you what you have to keep..
For me it was nice experience to see the upgraded system.. But my openoffice was not upgraded and old installation was removed as well.
I did apt-get install openoffice.org
then for the utility locate apt-get install locate
some not needed libraries.. run apt-get autoremove to free up some space ( be careful chances are that you may lose something you needed)
thats it.. you system is upgraded and runnning .. Now I had the kernel with HIGH MEM support and now it has gone need to recompile kernel for that..
Will do that sometime friday ,,
